If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am a massive meat lover. So, when the Fume Barbecue Festival rolled into Uxbridge, there was no way I was missing out. We headed down with the whole crew—Amy, Jordan, and Nicole—and let’s just say, the smells alone were enough to make us weak at the knees!
The food at this festival was absolutely unreal. We decided to get stuck in straight away with a few different dishes:
The Brisket Doughnut: This was the star of the show for me. I love brisket, and putting it in a doughnut? Genius. Amy wasn’t as convinced (it’s a bit of an acquired taste!), but that just meant more for me.
Pork Belly Bites: These were delicious, though they tasted more like premium bacon than your traditional restaurant pork belly. Still, they were “banging.”
Chilli Shrimp & Brisket Tacos: Amy opted for the shrimp and a brisket taco. She’s a big fan of BBQ, and these definitely hit the spot.
As the afternoon went on, we just kept finding more to try.
8-Hour Slow Cooked Beef Ribs: You could see the meat falling off the bone before we even touched it. Truly melt-in-the-mouth stuff.
Duck Tacos: A nice change of pace from the beef and pork, and full of flavour.
The BBQ Burger: A proper, honest barbecue burger. No frills, just great meat and perfect cooking.
It wasn’t just about the food; the live entertainment gave the whole place a brilliant atmosphere. We even watched people trying their luck on the bucking bronco—most of them started slipping off before they’d even begun!
To top it all off, we finished with some churros and a seriously good chocolate sauce. I think I said “everything here is really nice” about twenty times, but I meant it!
If the Fume Barbecue Festival comes back to Uxbridge next year (and I’m sure it will), you’ve got to go. Whether you’re a brisket fanatic or just love a good burger, it’s a brilliant day out for the family.
