If you’ve been following our travel vlogs to New York, Nashville, or the Dominican Republic, you’ve probably heard me mention “The Cabin” more than a few times. I realised I’ve never actually shown you what it is!
So, today I’m giving you an exclusive tour of our favourite place on earth—a space we built with our own two hands.
We built The Cabin during the COVID-19 lockdowns. With nowhere to go and plenty of time on our hands, my son and I got to work. It was a true labour of love, and while we had a bit of help from friends once restrictions lifted, the majority of the sweat and sawdust came from us. It’s not just a building; it’s a part of our home that we use every single day.
The beauty of The Cabin is its versatility. Depending on the day, it’s a gym, a cinema, a pub, or even a nightclub.
- We have a multi-purpose pool table that handles everything from a quick frame of 8-ball to high-stakes poker nights (thanks to a clever topper).
- No more manual scoring! Our dartboard is connected to an iPad and the TV, automatically registering every throw.
- Whether it’s the treadmill, the spin bike, or the free weights, we all find time to get a session in here.
My personal favourite area is, of course, the bar. It’s fully stocked with a wide selection of spirits and shorts. You’ll notice the numbers 17 and 1717 everywhere—17 has always been my lucky number, so it’s woven into the very fabric of the decor.
The shelves in the bar are what I mention most in my travel videos. This is where we keep our Hard Rock Cafe pins and memorabilia from all over the world. Every pin represents a city we’ve visited, a bubblegum shot we’ve shared, and a memory we’ve made. From magic shows in the UK to adventures across the Atlantic, it’s all here on the wall.
We’ve hosted everything here—from spooky Halloween parties to landmark birthdays. In future videos, I’ll be sharing some of the “messy” nights and events that happen right here. It’s more than just a cabin; it’s where our stories are kept.
