After the high-energy streets of Nashville, it was time to slow things down—Caribbean style. We traded the neon lights for palm trees and headed straight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for a dose of sunshine, cocktails, and adrenaline.

The Catalonia Royal Suite

We checked into an all-inclusive suite at the Catalonia Royal, and let’s just say we were spoiled rotten. Our room featured a massive terrace with a private swimming pool, a “stairway to heaven” leading to a second floor, and a minibar that was—believe it or not—completely included!

Scape Park & The Blue Hole
  • Swimming in this crystal-clear, deep blue natural pool was a bucket-list moment. The jump from the top is much higher than it looks on camera—trust me!
  • We soared through the jungle canopy and even did a water-landing zip-line that was “lit,” though a bit chilly!
  • From iguanas sunning themselves to monkeys and snakes, the park is a nature lover’s dream. Amy, of course, loved every bug except the cockroaches!
ATVs and “Rave in a Cave”

One of our messiest days was spent on ATVs. We got absolutely covered in mud tearing through the Dominican backcountry. The tour ended at a stunning cave with a natural pool inside. Dancing to local music in a literal cave felt like a private underground rave!

The Spectacle of Coco Bongo

If you visit Punta Cana, Coco Bongo is a must. It’s not just a club; it’s a high-energy show with acrobats, tribute acts, and incredible visuals.

Pro Tip: We paid for VIP, but honestly, the view from the floor looked just as good (if not better) if you don’t mind standing. The energy down there is electric!

A Few Honest Reflections

While the trip was amazing, I always want to be candid with you all:

  • The Hotel: We had some issues with the Catalonia Royal—terrible Wi-Fi, a few power cuts, and slow service when we asked for our pool to be cleaned. For the price, they definitely need to “pull their finger out.”
  • Shopping Trap: If you’re offered “free transport” to a mall, check if it’s Bella Mare Mall. It was incredibly overpriced and a bit of a let-down.
  • Horse Riding: My legs are still in bits! “Saddle ass” is real, and I’ve officially retired from horse riding for life.
Final Farewell

We ended our trip with a relaxing massage and a final flutter at the casino (where I managed to win back my last hand at Caribbean Stud Poker!). Even the airport in Punta Cana is cool—it has a swimming pool in the lounge where you can watch the planes take off while you take a dip.

Dominican Republic, you’ve been emotional. Next stop: Las Vegas!
